This Palisades fire in ScCal is so frightening to watch. I’m streaming KCAL news and they have a crew who’s sheltering with residents as they’ve been told to stay there, the roads to leave are blocked. The older woman is the home owner who has her 97 mother in the house, firefighters have said if they have to, they’ll put them in an engine and drive them through the flames if they have to. I’ve seen people running with kids and pets as they were told to leave their cars and run toward the ocean.

At approximately 9:44 am this morning, a report came in about a vehicle that drove off the Santa Cruz Municipal Wharf, located across from Marini’s. In response to the incident, the Santa Cruz Fire Department, Central Fire, State Parks, Scott’s Valley Fire, and the Santa Cruz Police Department all arrived at the scene. One victim, along with a dog, was successfully extricated from the vehicle. It is currently a recovery operation. The entrance to the wharf has been closed. Video by @nativesantac
