A magnitude 5.6 hit near Pica, Chile, at 14:10 local time and was widely felt across the region. Papua New Guinea recorded a deep 5.3 east of Kokopo at 444 km depth. The Philippines had two strong events, a 5.5 near Baculin and a 5.0 in the central islands region. A shallow 5.1 also struck near Easter Island.
