MUMS 101 — PART 2: HOW TO WATER YOUR MUMS One of the biggest questions we get every fall: “How often should I water my mums?” Mums like to stay consistently watered, but they don’t want to sit in soggy soil. The best thing you can do? Stick your finger into the soil and check! Warm, sunny day? They need watered everyday. Cool or rainy? Just check them! In a container? Check them more frequently than mums planted in the ground. And here’s the BIG one: Don’t just water the top of the soil. Give th

We’ve covered how to pick mums and the right way to water them….now let’s cover mum maintenance. As your mum starts to die back, you have to deadhead (remove the old flowers) so your plant will put out more flowers. Seems tedious but it’s a relatively quick process and worth the extra weeks of flowers. #gardening #fallgardening #mumflowers #gardening101 | Blueacre Garden

The proper way to water your Mums! 👇 Instead of watering from the top (which can cause fungal disease) water from the bottom. OR! You can bottom water them by filling a bucket a bucket of water and setting and your mum inside. Soak for about 20-30 mins. Your mum will soak up the water it needs from the bottom up. The pot just need to be submerged by a few inches. You can flip a smaller pot upside down and place it in your bucket if your mum falls down too far. 😉 How do you know when to water?

Want your mums to last through the season? Follow these simple tips! 1. Soak your mums in a bucket of water when you get home for about 30 min-1 hour. Mums soak up water from their roots so this will ensure they are hydrated! 2. Check your mums regularly by picking them up. If they are light to the touch this means that they don’t have much water left in the pot. It’s time to soak again. 💦One year I was determined to keep my mums alive and I tried watering every single day! But watering from th
