We have a meridional jet stream pattern with highly amplified troughs & ridges. The ridge (red = above normal heights) that is currently in place is responsible for our fair weather this week. It gets replaced by a trough (blue = below normal heights) next week. The trough will lead to a return of February temperatures & it can lead to storminess.
